Bloody Super Moon Lunar Eclipse, Culver City 2015
Thank the heavens for Outer Space!
The Supermoon Lunar Eclipse on Sunday the 27th was pretty spectacular. I watched from Baldwin Hills scenic overlook in Culver City and was able to see the moon eclipsing for a good 20 minutes without clouds. In 18 years when it happens again I will promise to bring a better camera. (See pictured above)
Also, last week’s discovery that there is water on Mars. Amazing!
Would you like the chance to explore the place and meet the people who helped make that discovery happen? If you said YES lucky you, this weekend Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will host its open house. This is my first time attending so I will probably annoy my out of town guest by one nerding out and two by instagramming it for all of you.
Here are the details:
When: Both Saturday (10th) and Sunday (11th) from 9:am to 4:PM
Where: This map and directions are highly recommended because although the mailing address is Pasadena, the JPL is in La Cañada Flintridge
Kids: Yes, although they warn that exhibits aren’t for small children.
Food: During my research for this event and finding other bloggers posts I see that there is food for sale at the event. From their list of limitations, you cannot bring ice chests and can only bring small bags like a purse or diaper bag. This may not be picnic friendly. Expect food lines to be long. Plan ahead if you get hangry.
Bring: Your patience since they expect over 10,000 people a day. Bring your sense of wonder as well. Oh, and water. It is supposed to be near 100 degrees again. (Yay! Fall)
Don’t forget to add #JPLOpen so that you can share your photos with others who aren’t lucky enough to live in the area.
Hope to see you there!
NEXT… we get back to the dancing.
