Walking up to Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden from Avalon
See post about Catalina Island here.
A 30 minute walk from downtown Avalon is the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden. Its almost 40 acres were designed by Ada Wrigley and Albert Conrad after the death of Ada’s husband William Wrigley Jr., who was once interned at the site.
The garden is full of California native plants. Here is a tour of the space in photos.
[Barrel Cactus] From the informational video at the Botanic Garden I learned that you can drink from these if you were stranded in the desert with no water.

Tilework is prominent on the memorial building and you can see this repeated on the stairways and fountains.

Ages: All, but getting the monument requires walking or golf cart rental. The memorial monument itself has a lot of stairs.
