This is in regard to Los Angeles County’s regulations for masks and vaccine requirements–not advice or theories about the pandemic. This post is a high-level summary of these pages from the State of California and the CDC. For the most complete information, read the aforementioned pages.

As of this update, COVID-19 no longer has emergency status. L.A. County is STRONGLY recommending wearing masks on public transportation. (Planes, trains, busses, and rideshare.) However, wearing a mask is up to you.

As of this update, masks are recommended but not required in Los Angeles County for all indoor activities–including, but not limited to shopping, attending movies or concerts, visiting museums and galleries, and others.

  • Masks are no longer required for non-vaccinated people in businesses, museums, or other indoor events.
  • Masks are no longer required on public transportation–planes, trains, busses, and rideshare.

Note for all people, regardless of vaccination status

Some businesses and rideshare drives have individual policies. It is best to bring a mask in case stores require them or restaurants prefer you mask up while in the restaurant. This is true even in late 2023.
