Testimonials

I have been testing my itineraries for years. I have led food tours, dragged family and guests from one side of the city to the other, and given sneak peeks of my itineraries for purchase to my newsletter subscribers. Here is what they have said:

Testimonials from Grab and go itineraries

A Historic Saturday in DTLA logo

Historic Saturday in Downtown Los Angeles

“A really helpful itinerary. As the person in the family who usually does all of the exhausting planning and organizing, it’s so nice to have someone else do that for me which is what this itinerary does. Seller makes it easy and fast to communicate with and offered to make adaptations to suit my group and the length of time we had available in DTLA which was much appreciated.” -Lindsay

Two Days in Barcelona

Kristen’s recommendations were invaluable for our trip to Barcelona. Her love of food led us to some of the most delicious meals, and her tips (book for dinner on Sunday because many restaurants aren’t open!) made sure we could enjoy the best the city had to offer without a wait or having to miss out. She really dives into a city and gets to know it, so you can be confident that you’re getting the best a place has to offer without winding up in a tourist trap.“-Betsy B.

Two Days in Palm Springs

I found This Ugly Beautiful City’s Palm Springs itinerary the perfect compliment to Trip Advisor and other ‘content marketing’ what-to-do-in-Palm-Springs articles for my weekend getaway to Palm Springs with my spouse. While Trip Advisor and what-to-do-in-Palm-Sprints sources helped with breadth of things to do, Kristen’s guide put it all in context. The content was much more personal and personable, and helped lay out a basic framework for my day, even if I didn’t always pick the same activities in each of the slots. And her descriptions of each of the venues/activities gave me a better sense of why I would want to engage or not compared the drier, more factual descriptions from my other sources. Bonus points for considering the route you might use to get to your destination and fun stuff you might do along the way, because getting there is part of the trip, too, isn’t it?”-Andy W

“I loved seeing a new side of my neighborhood on foot. Much of L.A. is car-driven, and I appreciated a new perspective.”

Chinatown Tour

“Whether you’re a local or a tourist, an outing with This Ugly Beautiful City feels like a backstage pass to the culture, food, and hidden gems of Los Angeles. On our Chinatown tour this spring, our senses were fully engaged — by unique food and drink, bright lanterns and colorful architecture, even a tactile exploration at an art gallery (as encouraged by the artist)! Kristen weaves a bit of history with the latest happenings (like about-to-open restaurants), opening your eyes to what is beautiful in the city right in front of you. Highly recommend a tour with her, or hiring her expertise for bespoke travel plans…she knows her stuff!--M S

She really made the confusing experience of leaving LAX easy with her step-by-step directions from our terminal to the ride share lot.
